The 2018 NOABS Local Organising Committee holds Post Summit Exit Meeting

Following the successful 2018 NOABS, the Local Organizing Committee, held their exit meeting at Raji Oladimeji Crescent, Jubilee Road Magodo, Lagos on 7th September, 2018. The meeting has among other things the breakdown of the cost incurred in the course of the preparation for the just concluded summit by the Finance and Accounts unit from the Association’s secretariat,   evaluations were being made on both human and material resources committed to the event. There were however deliberations on the challenges, lesson learnt for subsequent events. The meeting was a way of checking and balancing between the preparation, decisions and the outcome so far. As such, the Local Organizing Committee and the EOA Implementation team met. The objective of the meeting was also to access the successes of the just concluded Summit and chart a way forward. The meeting had in attendance five members of the LOC and the chairperson, Ms. Sowemimo who joined virtually. The EOA Country Coordinator, Project Manager and the accountant of the Association were also in attendance. Dr (Mrs) Adeogun, who delivered the welcome address on behalf of the Chairperson, appreciated all present at the meeting. In her welcome address, she expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of some members of staff of the venue used as some of their conducts, according to her were unprofessional. She concluded by recommending that future Summit should be done such that EOA activities to be implemented during the Summit be properly explained to the LOC for better understanding.

Other areas where improvements were suggested include:

  1. Synergy between officers in the registration unit and LOC
  2. A separate line of budget to cater for non-registered but invited participants
  3. Use of meal ticket during health and lunch breaks
  4. It was recommended that security should be beefed up

The Accountant of the Association gave the financial report and presented all the supporting documents for review by all. The meeting also proposed future Summit to entail competition among universities on agricultural technologies. This in turn will increase publicity of the Summit. The content of the Summit was adjourned good and the video production of the Summit proceeding was recommended for sales to boost income generation. Publicity via twitter and radio was also lauded.

Dr. AdeOluwa informed the meeting of the demise of Mrs Abayomi the wife of Dr. Akin Abayomi, who was a guest speaker during the opening ceremony/ plenary session of the event. The meeting requested that the EOA Implementation team visits the family to register their condolence.

In conclusion, the post-summit market drive was seeded to the Lagos Chapter of the Association. The body is to work with like-minded groups/actors pharmacy coop and other actors in the State. Dr AdeOluwa appreciated LOC members for providing the meal served during the meeting. Dr Osude was also appreciated for providing venue and Ms. Sowemimo for joining virtually.
